The event was initiated in 1950 by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the United States and falls on the thirs Sunday in January

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church ~ 6 May (m)
'The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) is a global day of intercession for persecuted Christians worldwide. Its primary focus is the work of intercessory prayer and citizen action on behalf of persecuted communities of the Christian faith. We also encourage prayer for the souls of the oppressors, the nations that promote persecution, and those who ignore it.' 'The IDOP began in 1996 through the efforts of the World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF) in cooperation with a variety of denominations and faith-based organizations.'

Global Day of Prayer ~ 23 May (m)
Begins with 10 Days of Prayer, 13-22 May, which precede the Global Day of Prayer. United by a Prayer for the World, millions of Christians from 456 nations, different cultures and denominations gather in many different venues each year to cry out to God for the healing and blessing of our nations.

Every year since 1952 people in all parts of the world have celebrated World Invocation Day on the day of the Gemini full moon. It is a global day of prayer and meditation when people of different spiritual paths join in a universal appeal to divinty using the Great Invocation

World Peace & Prayer Day   21 June ~ Summer Solstice
All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer!
Following the birth of a White Buffalo Calf in 1994, the Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe for the Lakota, Dakota, Nakota Nations, Arvol Looking Horse, was directed to honor the Four Directions with ceremony on June 21st. According to Lakota Star Knowledge, the birth of Miracle, a female white buffalo, signaled a time of earth changes and the coming of the mending of the Hoop of All Nations. The WPPD was founded by the Wolakota Foundation, a grassroots non-profit organization emerging from the needs of traditional Lakota (Dakota/Nakota) people to maintain their cultural and spiritual lifeways for the sake of future generations. Since it's inception, the organization has sought to promote and protect as well as educate others about the traditional values and wisdom of Indigenous People.

International Day of Peace Vigil  ~ 21 September ~ "Peace Day"
The United Nations' International Day of Peace - marked every year on September 21 - is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. "Peace Day" was established by U.N. resolution in 1982. The objective of the vigil is: "To encourage worldwide, 24-hour spiritual observations for peace and nonviolence on the International Day of Peace, 21 September in every house of worship and place of spiritual practice, by all religious and spiritually based groups and individuals, and by all men, women and children who seek peace in the world."

Earthdance ~ 18-25 September (m)
Earthdance, the Global Dance Festival for Peace has grown to become the world's largest simultaneous music and dance event. Founded in 1996, with 22 cities and 18 countries participating, Earthdance has grown to over 300 locations in 60 countries participating in 2007, with locations ranging from the club-lands of New York to the rainforests of Brazil.  Every year, in alignment with the International Day of Peace, over 200,000 people unite in dance with hundreds of thousands more joining online in support of global peace and humanitarian aims. The defining moment of each Earthdance event is a synchronized link-up,  (4pm Pacifc Standard Time) when every event around the world plays a specially produced song called 'The Prayer for Peace' at exactly the same time.

Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem ~ 3 October (m)
On the first Sunday of every October, hundreds of millions of people around the world join together to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  In just a few years, this event has quickly become the largest Israel-focused prayer event in history.
